Halls Locksmiths Ltd

Halls Locksmiths Ltd is a locksmith business based in Nottingham. The company was established in 1885 and is family-run, founded by Clay Hall, the great-great grandfather of Martin Hall, who currently runs the business.

It is an approved member of the Master Locksmiths Association, and all staff are checked against the Criminal Records Association. The company holds full accreditation with the Trading Standards 'Buy with Confidence' scheme and is a key supplier for the NHS. It serves housing associations, schools, shops, businesses, homes and lettings agents.

Key cutting, lock replacement and emergency lockout work form the backbone of the jobs described by those who have used this Nottingham firm, and the names that surface most are John, Seamus, Joe and Dean. John is remembered for searching the showroom, opening delivered boxes and checking van stock for a part that was not on the shelves, then pointing the customer towards another supplier and later running after them with news that the item had been found.

Seamus appears repeatedly for fitting handles, locks, cylinders and gearboxes, including adapting a replacement to an older conservatory door, while Joe and Dean are thanked for seeing a difficult job through, and Joe for returning to adjust a lock that had begun to stick at no cost.

Customers describe the advice as sound and the pricing as fair, with the counter staff and engineers alike treating callers with patience, letting them choose fittings at their own pace and explaining what the work involves. A call-out to correct freshly cut keys that would not turn, caused by a warped door, is recalled as efficient and courteous. Tidiness, clear communication before and after each visit and a respectful manner run through the accounts, whether the task is a faulty front door, a church lock or spare keys for relatives.
